Baptism

“It is the church’s act of affirming and portraying a believer’s union with Christ by immersing him or her in water (Acts 8:38-39)

Baptism is one of the two ordinances (the Lord’s Supper is the other that Northwest Baptist Church celebrates once a month.)  “It is the church’s act of affirming and portraying a believer’s union with Christ by immersing him or her in water (Acts 8:38-39), and a believer’s act of publicly committing him or herself to Christ and His people, thereby uniting a believer to the church…” (B. Jamieson).

An individual can be baptized once they have clearly stated their salvation experience of confessing their sins and accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of their life (Matthew 10:32-33; Acts 2:38).  Once baptized a person begins the path of church membership (see Become a Member).
